Basic research is a domain of science concerned with understanding the roots of disease at the lowest level. It is the starting point for all medical discovery, essential for establishing a basis for medical cures. Bench-top science is a focal point for Music for the Heart as it works to streamline financial resources to scientists and systems needed for the work. Music for the Heart funds are used for direct and indirect support of basic research. Music for the Heart is specifically interested in funding seed grants, scientific equipment, and projects deemed likely to do the most good for the most people.
