Programs
Music for the Heart directs resources to scientists seeking to understand root causes of cardiovascular disease. Funds for this objective are obtained through annual world-class fundraising musical concerts. Presently, our beneficiary is The Oregon Health and Sciences University Heart Research Center, a world-renowned facility in Portland, Oregon focusing on fetal origins of adult heart disease. Our funds are used to support works-in-progress, seed grants, young scientists, and equipment. Seed grants are a necessary part of the scientific process, enabling scientists to conduct the early phases of research, gather prelimary data on new ideas, and prepare for large-scale research projects worthy of Federal funding.
Since its inception in 2005, Music for the Heart has produced six benefit concerts and contributed over $100,000.00 to heart research. Guest artists include legends: Piano Duo Kutrowatz, Dave Brubeck Quartet, The New Christy Minstrels, Tom Grant/Michael Allen Harrison, The Vienna Boys' Choir, and Chick Corea.
